Barcelona is a wonderful city - it is cosmopolitan, culturally fascinating, has its own unique Catalan heritage and a near perfect Mediterranean climate. All of these ingredients make it both an ideal destination for tourists and of course a great place to live!

The city is home to 1.5 million people with that number rising to 4 million when the metropolitan areas are included. As well as being one of the largest urban areas in Spain, it is also one of the wealthiest. Catalans are well renowned for their industrious nature and for this reason many international companies have found success here.

Barcelona has undergone many changes in its long history and the 1992 Olympic Games were the most recent catalyst for an extensive renovation of the city. Sports and entertainment facilities were built, a whole new neighbourhood near the port was constructed and 4km of urban beaches were restored or created for visitors and city dwellers. As a result a lively beach culture now intermingles with a business like atmosphere making Barcelona a truly World Class city.
